Currently in our country 10 transgender people have been reported to have been the victims of deadly violence during 2017. Here in our own state, we know that transgender people face stark realities of encountering violence in their jobs, in schools, in healthcare, in encounters with law enforcement, and are afraid to use public restrooms because of discriminatory legislation. Join us for a conversation about the root causes of violence against transgender people, and positive public policy initiatives to address those underlying causes. The panel will be hosted by Ames Simmons, Equality NC’s Director of Transgender Policy. Don’t miss it!
